IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1 For 8 bands: INFORMAL LETTER

IELTS GENERAL WRITING BAND 8

You recently received a letter from a friend asking for your advice on whether to go to college or to try to get a job. You think he/ she should get a job. Write a letter to this friend. In your letter:

  • say why she will not enjoy going to college
  • explain why getting a job is a good idea
  • Suggest the type of job that would be suitable

Dear Pam,

I trust this letter finds you well. Having received your recent correspondence regarding your dilemma between pursuing higher education or seeking employment, I am eager to offer my insights to assist you in making an informed decision.

Given your adventurous spirit and inclination towards exploring new avenues in life, the conventional routine of attending college on a daily basis may not align with your preferences, particularly considering your residence in the outskirts. Should you choose to embark on an academic journey, the commitment to regular attendance may pose a challenge, detracting from your enthusiasm for novel experiences.

In light of your passion for creativity nurtured since childhood, I would strongly advocate for considering employment opportunities. Embracing a professional role would not only allow you to harness your inherent talents but also present you with the invaluable benefit of financial remuneration. Early entry into the workforce would afford you the means to pursue your aspirations of travel and embark on thrilling adventures.

In assessing your distinctive qualities such as your articulate nature, adept communication skills, and inherent sense of humor, a career in marketing and sales emerges as a compelling prospect. The dynamic nature of such roles, coupled with the opportunity for client interactions and business travels, resonates with your vivacious personality and penchant for exploration.

I trust that these reflections will provide you with clarity as you navigate this pivotal juncture in your life.

Warm regards,
james
