IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1 For 8 bands: INFORMAL LETTER

IELTS GENERAL WRITING BAND 8

An English-speaking friend has written to you to ask you how your studies are going. Write a letter to the friend:

  • tell your friend how you are preparing for the exam.
  • tell him/her how you feel about it.
  • tell him your expectations.

Dear Mala,

I trust this letter finds you in good spirits. I recently received your letter, and I appreciate your inquiry about my preparations for the upcoming final year exams. I’m writing to provide you with an update on my current progress.

Regarding study materials, I’ve been utilizing the online classes you recommended, which have proven to be invaluable resources. Additionally, I’ve found a plethora of insightful articles and journals available online, which have been instrumental in my last-minute preparations. The accessibility of these resources at no cost has been particularly advantageous. Furthermore, my classmates and I have been organizing regular group study sessions, allowing us to share knowledge and engage in collaborative learning activities.

I must admit, I am approaching my preparations with unwavering dedication and focus. However, the gravity of these final exams has left me feeling somewhat apprehensive, as the results will undoubtedly have a significant impact on my future endeavors. Despite this, I am striving to maintain a positive mindset and am determined to perform to the best of my abilities. While achieving an overall GPA of 4.0 may seem daunting, I am optimistic that with persistence and effort, I can gradually build the confidence needed to attain this goal.

Once again, I am grateful for your concern regarding my studies, and I sincerely appreciate your support. I look forward to catching up with you in person after the exams.

Warm regards,

Jack
