IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1 For 8 bands: SEMIINFORMAL LETTER
Your next door neighbour owns a small dog that barks throughout the day and the night. Write a letter to your neighbour requesting that something be done about the dog. Include in your letter:
- Your reason for writing
- What you would like to happen
- A nice, respectful style.
Writing to let them know how you have been affected by the noise.
Dear Mr. Charles,
I trust this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am Mr. Robert, your immediate neighbor residing in house number 401. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue concerning your small dog that has been causing some inconvenience for my family.
Over the past few weeks, we have noticed that your dog has been barking persistently both during the day and night. This unusual behavior is affecting our ability to sleep at night, and it has become particularly challenging for my son, who is in his final semester and needs a quiet environment for studying. Additionally, the dog’s tendency to run after strangers passing by poses a potential danger.
I kindly request that you consider moving your dog from the hall area to the backyard during nighttime. This adjustment would allow him more space to roam freely while minimizing the disturbance to our household. Furthermore, it might be beneficial to consult with a veterinarian to understand the cause of the dog’s behavior.
